Keeper of Transportation

10' tall
The first of two statues designed for the Keeper on Parade public art project, located at Osage Park in south Wichita. The design is based on suggestions from residents in the area. Most prominently, the airplanes throughout honor the legacy of airplane manufacturing in Wichita. South Wichita's abundance of railroad tracks are also represented. Within those tracks, road markings and tiny cars make reference to US Route 400, known locally as Kellogg Avenue. Families of all kinds abstracted within main green section, and the headdress features a water drop design, referencing the splash pad in the park nearby.
